Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel, Anguilla Review

We stayed at Belmond Cap Juluca in June 2025 for four nights after four nights at the Four Seasons Anguilla. This is our third trip back and we have found that the split between the two properties is ideal for us.

We booked the deluxe beachfront room but were upgraded with Bellini Club to the premium beachfront room. We have stayed in both rooms though in past visits and the premium room is a bit nicer in terms of location, but really not a huge difference. Both have the same amazing views and close proximity to the beach.

The Property

The property is largely positioned around the stunning Maunday’s Bay. When you enter the lobby area for the first time, the view of the bay forced us to stop and stare. It still did this on return trips.

There are small white villas scattered along the bay that are all a very short distance from the beach. The villas are generally two stories and there are no elevators so when we travel with our in-laws, we make sure to ask for them to be on the first floor. Most buildings have four rooms (two upstairs and two downstairs), some have six, but every room has a great, amazing view. There are also a few standalone villa rooms with their own pool, but they sit a little back from the other villas, so the pool is sort of on display for the other rooms around it.

There is a short grass area between the buildings and the sand, but it is really a matter of a few feet to the beach.

Since the resort is built around the bay, things are somewhat spread out so you can grab a golf cart ride by texting your butler or use bikes that are available throughout the property. That said, it is a very walkable-sized property. If you rent a car during your stay, you can park outside your villa.

The view of the bay is beyond words with the most beautiful turquoise color. Generally, the water is as calm as a bathtub and clear like a pool. On a prior trip, the water had a bit more movement in it, but there was a hurricane causing the issue, and it is still incredibly calm by Caribbean standards. Most days, you will not find a nicer beach/water combo in the Caribbean, including in Anguilla, Turks and Caicos, Grand Cayman, or Bahamas.

The beach sand is soft and beautifully maintained and the beach is generally quiet and calm. The super comfy chairs are far apart from one another so you don’t even hear the guest next to you. The resort is also amazing about setting up your chair area to have multiple umbrellas if desired, along with a Yeti cooler filled with ice and waters.

The standard non-motor water activities are available, but we prefer to simply lounge and swim. I also like to snorkel along the bay. There is more marine life over by the restaurants, but there are also some interesting shells scattered elsewhere along the bay.

There is a nice pool, but we have really never seen anyone using it because the ocean is just as calm as a pool!

Room

Our premium beach front room feels large enough and has all the space really needed with a table big enough for four and a couch.

The closet location varies with the room but is generally plenty large and built into a closet structure in the entry hall with shelves and hanging space.

The mattress at the Four Seasons is overall better, but it is fine here too. Their pillows were a bit hard, though, and we had to ask for multiple more pillows to get the right fit.

Each room has a large balcony with lounge chairs that overlook the bay. It is amazing to wake up and know you are only a few feet from the ocean.

Service

Technically you are assigned a “villa host” that acts sort of as a butler, but this is not the same as in the Maldives or other high service areas. They will make dinner reservations, bring in any groceries you may want and are generally available if you text them in WhatsApp. We don’t use a butler often, so it was fine for us that it’s not full butler service.

The beach service is overall attentive as long as you tip. We have learned with our prior trips to tip early on, and they will be super attentive. They have a nice setup in that they have little pavilions for the beach staff located between every six or so guests so they are always close by, and can make most frozen drinks right there, so they are not melted having come from the restaurant.

The beach service also brings (free) fun treats and even small sample drinks during the day.

Restaurant service is fine and overall good. The restaurant staff is the same for breakfast as dinner, and they remember you between meals. We found the servers for meals to be generally upbeat and friendly.

Food

Overall, our expectations for food in the Caribbean is not the highest. Anguilla is smaller than many islands, but there are a lot of choices if you’re willing to venture out.

Breakfast at the resort is once again right on the bay so you are overlooking the water. It is a beautiful location. Generally, only two person tables get the spots right by the water, but honestly anywhere is a great view. The food is fine; with the standard buffet options and additional menu selections you can order.

Lunch options are not our favorite, but we know many people who enjoy the Cap Shack which is a small food truck type structure. Our main complaint was the guacamole was clearly premade / store-bought, which is not what you want on vacation. It seemed like those little cups you can get from a grocery store. It even had that smooth consistency of mass manufactured guac.

There are three choices for dinner at the resort and they are all good. We tend to prefer to do a combination of on-site and off-site dining to get more of a variety. There are enough good options in Anguilla that you don’t have to stay on property for all meals.

Conclusion

Overall, if you have not visited Anguilla, or Belmond Cap Juluca, it is a must in the Caribbean. If you want to lounge and swim in the clearest and calmest water you have seen, this is the place. If your vibe is more of a lively place needing music and activity, then you may be disappointed here. We usually like combine our time with Four Seasons to ensure that we also get part of our trip with great service and an amazing infinity pool.
